The December after Ten
Timid Ghosts was published, I created a Christmas
card with a line drawing of the ghosts sliding down
their hillside in toboggans and sleds on Christmas
Eve with Santa and his sleigh silhouetted against
the moon. This inspired the story of Ten
Timid Ghosts on a Christmas Night, who discover
decorations in the attic. They trim a tree, put
up colored lights, and await the exciting arrival
of a special visitor. My goal was to capture the
excitement, anticipation and warmth we all feel
on Christmas Eve. |

Matthew picked out a few nights ago for a
bedtime read.
...The illustrations are charming, and the
ghosts appear starting with “one timid ghost...”
and moving up to “ten timid ghosts.” My little
one loves to count the ghosts on each page,
and loves it when one or more is hiding in
an unusual or hard-to-find place. We highly
recommend this one.”
